Abstract

Experiment was carried out in sandy loam soil during kharif season 2007 to findout the effect of various levels of phosphorus on nitrogen fixing potential of rhizobium and their response on mungbean variety of N.D.M.-1. The data revealed that the 45 kg P₂O₅ ha^-1 and Rhizobium inoculation significantly increased microbiological parameters such as number of nodules, fresh weight of nodules and nitrogenase activity. Application of 45 kg P₂O₅ ha^-1 along with Rhizobium significantly increased the yield of mungbean.

Abstract

Response of Rhizobium, VA-mycorrhiza (VAM) and phosphorus on yield and yield contributing characters of pea (Pisum sativum L.) was conducted at Instructional Farm of N.D. University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad (U.P.) during Rabi season 2009-10 with three replications. Inoculation of Rhizobium, VAM and 50 kg P₂O₅ gave better response in respect to nodulation, VAM colonization and spore population of VAM fungi, yield and yield attributes and protein content in grain. Chemical properties of the soil was also improved after inoculation of Rhizobium and VAM.
